This style focuses on grappling, which is the process of neutralizing an opponent’s attack using control holds, strategic body positioning, joint manipulation and other submission techniques, rather than strikes. Students learn to utilize leverage, timing and technique –rather than strength- so that smaller individuals can beat larger opponents. Today most Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructors focus entirely on the tournament techniques that have little to no applicability in a real street fight. As the only sanctioned Royce Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Network School in the Inland Empire, Marcellini’s Martial Arts Academy teaches one of the purest forms of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Although thousands of instructors claim to teach pure Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, the vast majorities actually teach sportive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and simply use the Gracie name to add marketing value.

The students in this class learn Kickboxing & Chinese Boxing. Since Chinese Boxing is
basically kickboxing with takedowns, students learn takedowns as well as takedown
defense. The focus of this program is on the technical and artistic aspects of Kickboxing and
Thai boxing rather than on uncontrolled, unsafe, full-contact fighting. Students learn
technical aspects such as proper footwork, timing, body movement, counterattacking and
the proper application of techniques in a safe and controlled environment.
